We’re taking community feedback on the current Code of Practice for land development and subdivisions.

The Code is based on NZS 4404:2010 and provides guidelines and minimum standards to ensure land development and subdivision infrastructure is designed and constructed using best practice.

Over the last few years, we’ve reviewed the current Code of Practice and recommended amendments to this document over multiple stages, which we’ve since incorporated into the technical standard.

As part of the last stage of consultation in 2024, we identified significant demand for updates to the Code's roading and transport section. We’re pleased to share we’re now reviewing these sections too.

Why share feedback?

This February, we're looking for feedback to help inform the scope of our Code of Practice updates, with a particular focus on roading and transportation provisions.

We would also like any feedback you may have on other parts of the Code too!

Your feedback can help identify:

  • unclear or inconsistent requirements
  • recurring issues
  • areas that need to be clearer or have more consistent guidance

Please let us know if there are unresolved changes from previous updates or refinements you would like made to recently introduced provisions.
