Consultation has concluded.   The old Mitre 10 building has been repurposed into Paetara Central.

We're in the early stages of an exciting project in Wānaka to develop more indoor recreation space for our community.

We're repurposing the old Mitre 10 building on Plantation Road into a Youth and Community Centre. This will provide more recreation space for our local youth and community groups to rent or book.

We're now calling for expressions of interest from any local groups who require new or additional space for their activities. This process will ensure we're capturing the needs of a broad range of groups who would like to make use of this facility. As there is limited space in the building, the process will also help us fairly assess how we accommodate demand and ensure a wide range of uses can be catered for.

How to submit at expression of interest

Please use the online form below.

Expressions of interest must be received by Sunday 12 June 2022.

What happens next?

Following the closing date, we'll review the expressions of interest received against the selection criteria to prioritise and understand local requirements.

We'll be considering the following things:

  • The status of the group (i.e. priority will be given to charity and not-for-profit groups)
  • The type of activities and how they might complement each other to provide a broad range of recreation opportunities
  • Whether synergies exist to share space with other groups
  • Whether groups existing facilities are fit for purpose.

This process will take approximately two weeks. Once this is complete, we'll come back to you on whether your requirements can be met and next steps.

Any questions?

We’ve provided answers to some frequently asked questions on the right-hand side of this page.
