0% answered

About QLDC's Draft Dog Control Policy and Bylaw 2027 formal consultation survey

QLDC invites you to review and share your thoughts on the draft Dog Control Policy 2027, Te Kaupapahere Whakahaere Kurī 2027 (the Policy) and draft Dog Control Bylaw 2027, Te Ture ā-rohe Whakahaere Kurī 2027 (the Bylaw).

🚦Before you begin

We’re asking for your feedback on two documents that will guide how dogs are managed across the Queenstown Lakes District.

🐶What is the Dog Control Policy?
The Policy sets out Council’s overall approach to dog ownership and control. It explains what Council wants to achieve and the principles that guide how dogs are managed across the district.

🐕What is the Dog Control Bylaw?
The Bylaw sets out the specific local rules for dog owners. This includes things like where dogs can go, when they need to be on a leash, and where restrictions or requirements apply.

You’ll be asked for your views on both. You can read the proposed Policy and Bylaw before answering the questions.

While the draft Policy and Bylaw largely maintains the current approach to dog control, several targeted changes are proposed. This survey asks for your views on these changes to help Council make its final decisions.

To help you answer the questions, we recommend reading the following which provide more information on current rules and proposed changes:
