Consultation has concluded

Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens is a significant public space within the Queenstown town centre, serving the needs of residents and visitors. It's a central, thriving public space and well used by many people for various purposes, and its premier location presents an ideal opportunity to emphasise past, present and future local values.

QLDC's intention is to upgrade Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens through a multi-stage project, enhancing connection to the town centre and surrounds and improving circulation within the grounds.

Concept design:

A concept design of the Development Plan is now available, which shows the retention of informal passive recreation qualities, while improving public safety and wayfinding through improvements to:

  • lighting
  • signage
  • pathways

Culture, heritage and the place values of Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains are weaved into the design.
