Consultation has concluded.

The proposed parking changes were approved by the Traffic & Parking Subcommittee. Line markings are now in place and new parking restrictions in operation.

In January 2022 we asked for feedback on proposed changes to public parking along Arawata Terrace, aiming to create space for public transport buses and emergency service vehicles to pass through the area safely.

What's proposed for Arawata Terrace:

Working with Otago Regional Council (ORC), we're proposing new parking restrictions on sections of Arawata Terrace near Moss Lane, Williams Street and Evergreen Place, which include yellow no-stopping lines added to the road surface. For more details on the proposed changes, check the map below:

Why we're proposing this:

The proposed new parking restrictions will create space for public transport buses and emergency service vehicles to pass through the area safely, as they currently must pass parked vehicles by moving onto the opposite side of the road.

What's changed from the original proposal:

We've updated our proposed plan to include some parking restrictions along the southern side of Arawata Terrace, and a slight extension on the existing parking restrictions line opposite the bus stop.

Feedback:

Feedback on the proposed changes to Arawata Terrace closed at 3.00pm on Wednesday 9 February 2022. All feedback will now be considered by QLDC's Traffic & Parking Subcommittee.

What happens next?

A decision on the proposed changes to Arawata Terrace will be sought by the Traffic & Parking Subcommittee on 10 March 2022.
