How would you like to see two iconic reserves in Queenstown managed now and in the future?

We’re asking the community to share their views on a draft Reserve Management Plan (RMP) for Te-Taumata-o-Hakitekura Ben Lomond & Te Tapunui Queenstown Hill.

We’d like to know if you support our shared vision for how these highly valued reserves can be enjoyed by all.

Background

The draft RMP has been informed and guided by engagement with the community and stakeholders in during late 2021 and early 2022. During this early engagement phase, we met with a range of stakeholders including Aukaha and Te Ao Marama Incorporated, Queenstown Mountain Bike Club, Skyline Enterprises Limited, AJ Hackett Bungy, Gforce Paragliding, Ziptrek Ecotours and Whakatipu Wilding Conifer Group.

>> Read the early insights feedback gathered during this period

What you can expect to see in the plan:

  • The vision for the reserves: This reflects our aspirations for the future.
  • The objectives for the reserves: These represent the key goals of the RMP and provide the framework for managing the reserves.
  • The policies that help to achieve the objectives: These guide all actions, decisions and behaviours within the reserves and are grouped under six themes: Kāi Tahu partnerships, effective cross organisation management, natural values/hazards, heritage values, recreation and use, and infrastructure and reserve development.
