Early engagement has concluded.  The draft 2024-2034 Long Term Plan will be released for public consultation this year.

What’s your stake in Queenstown-Lakes?

Did you know Queenstown Lakes District is one of the fastest growing areas in Aotearoa New Zealand?

Next year we will be preparing the Queenstown Lakes District 2024-2034 Long Term Plan (prepared every three years), which is an important part of how we prepare for the future by planning to deliver and build on our local services and facilities, alongside the changing needs that comes with a fast-growing resident population and increasing visitor numbers. It includes our 30 Year Infrastructure Strategy and Finance Strategy.

Find our current Long Term Plan (referred to as the Ten Year Plan) here.

We are aspirational and optimistic about all that we can do, but we must balance this with pragmatism about how we provide these services and facilities, how they are funded, and consider the big picture of things we must do for compliance or legislative reasons.

It’s important you have your say about what you believe this next plan should include, to help inform how we invest to deliver the services and facilities that our district values and needs most.

In thinking about possibilities for the future, it’s useful to understand how Queenstown Lakes District Council currently serves the district.

We must continue to focus on delivering to meet the needs of today, our future population, and meeting increased standards and expectations. This includes thinking about how we address transport, housing, climate change, resilience, and the impacts of growth all while considering affordability for our community.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

While the formal consultation process for the 2024-2034 Long Term Plan won’t begin until next year (so you will have another chance to input and make a formal submission), the earlier we can begin understanding what matters to you for the district and what the Council should be focused on to achieve this, the better. Help us begin to build this picture by sharing your thoughts to the three questions on this survey.
